What is the industrial style?
Industrial design, according to the definition of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID), is “a creative activity whose aim is to determine the formal qualities of objects produced by industry. These formal qualities include the external features but are principally those structural and functional relationships which convert a system to a coherent unity both from the point of view of the producer and the user. Industrial design extends to embrace all aspects of human environment which are conditioned by industrial production.”

Which colors should you choose?
Subdued colors, such as black, gray, brown and copper, essentially make up this type of design. A touch of color can sometimes be added, for example a yellow chair or lamp.
Which materials should you favor?
Raw materials, such as wood, metal or concrete, define the industrial style. Brick walls are also particularly popular.
How to lay out your interior?
The industrial style is inspired by New York lofts set up in former factories. Large volumes will always be favored; you open up your interior by replacing partitions with glass walls, in order to create as much transparency and space as possible.
What type of furniture should you choose?
• Factory lamps (pendant or floor lamps): in chrome metal, enameled sheet metal, etc.• Vintage leather sofa: timeless• Metal stools: possibly add wooden seats• Filament bulbs: vintage effect• Dark furniture: preferably black

You can easily find this type of furniture at flea markets.
